What the 2026 Survey Covers
The survey is built around four areas that shape the day-to-day reality of maintaining a PowerBuilder application:
Technical Debt
Refactoring plans, automated testing (or the lack of it), code review practices, and whether migration is actually on the roadmap for the next 12 to 24 months.
CI/CD
Source control adoption, how builds get triggered, whether deployment is automated, and how often teams actually ship to production.
Artificial Intelligence
Where AI tools are being used on PB code today, what breaks when they're pointed at PowerBuilder specifically, and the constraints - regulatory, budget, or otherwise - keeping teams from going further.
Performance
How performance issues get diagnosed, and where the bottlenecks tend to live: database queries, the UI, the network, or the business logic itself.
Why It's Worth Three Minutes
Most PowerBuilder teams don't have much visibility outside their own codebase. Is running without automated tests unusual, or the norm? Is a quarterly release cycle slow, or about average? Is everyone else also hitting a wall when they point AI tools at PB code, or is that just you?
